Course Curriculum
This course aims to educate the student to practitioner standard. It demands commitment and application on the part
of the student.
The course offers training in all aspects of homeopathy - from philosophy and theory to practical
clinical application. Medical science is included. The level of competence demonstrated is sufficient for graduates to apply
for inclusion into one of several professional registers of homeopaths.
The course covers six main subjects:
- Methods and Philosophy
- Materia Medica
- Personal, Professional and Clinical Development
- Practical Application, including Clinical Training
- Integrated Human Science
- Introduction to other therapies
complementary to homeopathy, including nutrition, flower remedies, and herbs, to name but a selection
As students progress through the course, the subjects studied
will increase in depth and level of integration. Teaching over the 4-year course is specially designed to facilitate
a smooth, steady transition from student to confident practitioner.
Casework
Casework is the careful analysis of a patient's condition and treatment. It
is a skill practised in all areas of the curriculum rather than being a separate subject of study.
The first year of the course provides a foundation in homeopathic
knowledge. It should give students the skills and confidence to be able to treat family
and friends with simple complaints, as well as providing a ‘grounding’ in the basics of homeopathy. From the very beginning, the College will encourage students to begin to apply their
knowledge to simple, everyday situations.
In
the second year, students begin their formal clinical training. Initially, students observe consultations with patients
and participate in the case analysis and discussion. To become a Practical Homeopath, the College believes that
students should start dealing with patients as soon as possible. It is only through the experience of taking cases and dealing
with patients that students become competent and confident practitioners.
