What is Homeopathy? And how does it work?

Homoeopathy is a safe and effective system of medicine based on the principle of “like cures like”. This principle was first formulated by a German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann, in 1796. Hahnemann’s extensive research and clinical studies proved that diseases can be cured by small doses of substances that produce in a healthy person the same pathological effects that are symptomatic of the disease. The ingredients used to manufacture homeopathic medicines are  mainly taken from plants, animals and minerals.

Homeopathy is a holistic therapy that treats not just the symptoms but the person as a whole. For example, ten different people with the same cold or flu virus will express their symptoms in different ways. Their lifestyles will be different and stressors affecting them will be different. In addition, each individual has his or her unique way of approaching life and reacting to it, which the homeopath must also examine before deciding on the remedy that best suits an individual.

Studying Homeopathy at the Southern College of Homeopathy

With increasing numbers of people becoming aware of homeopathy as a therapy, the demand for quality homeopathic education is on the rise. We offer an excellent Practical Homeopathy curriculum, which will be delivered by highly qualified and experienced tutors. Students attending the Southern College of Homeopathy will quickly grasp the concepts and methods of using homeopathy, gaining the ability to understand the body systems in health and disease, and eventually become equipped with the skills to become a confident, professional and effective practitioner.

In order to practise as a homeopath, certain standards must be attained and maintained. Upon qualitying, students will be encouraged to join a professional body and attend CPD (Continuing Professional Development ) days at the Southern College and other teaching centres.

The Southern college of Homeopathy is a member of The Homeopathy Course Providers Forum (HCPF)  which is the voice of homeopathy training and education in the UK www.hcpf.org.uk
